A Late 19th/Early 20th Century Fijian Tabua (Sperm Whale Tooth) of dark nutty/honey colour, one side incised TOSA TEKI, the opposing side inscribed TAI, the points pierced with holes for the braided coir cord - detached, 15cm
**The surface has been smoked, covered in coconut oil and burning sugar cane to obtain the rich patination. The gift of a tabua is the highest token of respect one can receive in Fiji.
