Taxidermy: Bengal Tiger Skin Rug (Panthera tigris tigris), circa 1900-1930, by Cuthbertson & Harper, 10 Government Place, Calcutta, India, a very large adult male Tiger skin rug with head mount, mouth agape, hand painted glass eyes, nose to tail 343cm, across the forelimbs 246cm, across the rear limbs 225cm, backed onto chequered grey cotton material, with black serrated felt trim border, faint stencilled trade mark to verso, Cuthbertson & Harper started out in 1837 as a Bootmaker, saddler, and tannery, moving into mounted Taxidermy in the late 19th - early 20th century.

various losses to the filler around the gumline, some filler loss around the nostrils, chin slightly loose, lower left fang tip damaged, tongue complete, whiskers lacking, both ears complete although tip seams are slightly open, front right foot no claws remain, front left foot two claws remain, rear left foot no claws remain and one toe missing, rear right foot one claw remains two toes missing, tail tip missing, folding crease marks and loss to the fur across the shoulders (due to improper folding and storage) - see images online, similar to base of tail and left flank, overall colour fair, very large head - (i do not know if the original complete skull remains within), old stitched repair to right flank 4.5cm, another old stitched repair to right flank 5.5cm, small tear to right flank 3cm, small rip to side of left flank meeting the border 5.5cm, 23/08/22.
