A Longton Hall Porcelain Mug, circa 1760, of ovoid form with turned foot and scroll handle, printed in black by John Sadler of Liverpool with the Arms of the Society of Bucks within rococo scroll cartouche and figures
12.5cm high
It is likely that Sadler bought undecorated Longton Hall mugs during the latter years of the factory and some may have been printed after the closure of the factory. Signed examples of this print are found on similar mugs as well as creamware, enamels and delft tiles. The engraving is attributed to Jeremiah Evans who signed and engraved the invitation for the Liverpool Lodge in 1770
Sold for £800
Estimated at £600 - £800
Typical minor surface wear and glaze pitting throughout, no restoration

We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a condition report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
