Breeches Bible The Holy Bible. Printed by Robert Barker, [1606, lacking OT title, dated from NT, n.d. colophon]. With Sternhold and Hopkins. Printed by John Windet for the Assignes of Richard Day, 1598. 8vo, early panel calf, spine lettered in ink; unpaginated, signed: OT: [1] (lacking prelims), A8-2Y5 (lacking 2I7-2K2, 2M3-6); without Apocrypha; NT: 3K8-3Z8, [2]; Concordance: A8-K8 (lacking A1); Sternhold: A8-E1 (lacking thence to end). Black letter. Robert Barker was printer to James I and son of Christopher Barker (See Lot 1). Barker was the printer of the King James Bible, and more infamously he and Martin Lucas published perhaps the most notorious misprint Bible: the "Wicked Bible", which omitted the word "not" from the Seventh Commandment. (see Lot 1 for Breeches Bible) Similar to Herbert 286 and 287 but 8vo, does not contain Tomson or Junius.
