29 1/4" two piece back, ebony fingerboard; width of upper bout 13 1/8", middle 9" and lower 17"; depth of ribs 4 1/2"; with machine head tuners; internal labels 'The cello was the property of Rev. Mansell, Vicars Court Lincoln, for about 40 year. Was purchased by Henry M Bufihan Foss Lodge, Lincoln July 1899' and 'Inscriptions written in cello on back and belly Joseph Scheinde [sic] In Mittenwalde 1841 Opened by M. P. Tosturn 1845, Repaired by M W D Leeds, Dec 1873, repaired by E Winter Lincoln July 1907', cased

Various repaired cracks under tailpiece on bass side on the top; treble side lower corner on the top has been replaced (see image); possibly had some crack repair on the top parallel with bass bar but obscured by dark varnish; crack to back on bass side approx 150mm running from purfling; mark to back of neck in wood approx 8x3mm; various marks to wood under varnish; small crack 40mm to loewr bass rib; repaired crack 30mm to middle bass rib; joint requires glueing on loewr bout to both front and back; upper bass rib shows signs of repair to joint to front;
