A View of Saint Peter's in Rome: An 18th Century Carved and Pierced Grand Tour Ivory Fan, the monture carved with a lattice and meandering roses, the gorge sticks in pairs. The painted recto shows a wide-angled view of St peter's square in Rome, the artist recording miniscule details of buildings, fountains, horse-drawn carriages, and passers-by. The verso is painted with a rural Italianate stone building with archway leading to a courtyard. Contained in a 19th century cream card Duvelleroy fan box. Guard length 11 inches or 28cm

. Some slivers of ivory lacking in the two central gorge sticks and upper guards. Some rubbing to some folds, a water mark top left of centre, some wear to the leaf very bottom left, behind which a repair has been undertaken. Some light brown marks to the verso.
