A Second World War Commando Group of Seven Medals, awarded to 14241626 Lance Corporal John Henry Fletcher, Royal Armoured Corps ( M.T.Troop, Holding Operational Commando), comprising 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Elizabeth II) named SERGT. JOHN H. FLETCHER, swing mounted as worn, together with his Soldier's Service and Pay Book, medal award letters, Statement of Army Service, Commando Service Certificate, No.3 Commando cloth shoulder title, blazer badge, photographs, newspapers and cuttings, a Commando Association car pennant and plaque, programmes for Services of Thanksgiving for the 21st and 31st Anniversary of the formation of the Commandos, a pair of polished pewter figurs of World War One soldiers and a clip of inert bullets, also 1953 Coronation Pop-up book, maps and ephemera issued to him as a serving Police Officer.

Footnote:- John Henry Fletcher was born in West Auckland on 30th March 1916. Before the war he served as a Police Officer with Batley Borough Police Force. He joined up at the beginning of the war and served with the Royal Armoured Corps, going on the serve as a Commando. He was wounded in the leg with shrapnel during fierce fighting in Sicily and Italy and was flown to North Africa to recuperate. After the war he rejoined the Police Force and was involved in the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Ethnographica section includes is a Collection of Inuit Art comprising knives, weapons, utensils and decorative objects
