Arabic 1 in date AVF, Victoria shilling 1887 VF, halfcrowns, shillings, threepences etc., gross weight 101.1g; 4 x foreign silver: Canada $1 1975 'Calgary Centenary' UNC; Mexico peso 1961 near Fine; Ireland 10 scilling 1966 GVF; and Australia sixpence 1917 VG; 5 x AE including 3 x pennies 1806, 1807 and 1858, farthing 1799 and Canada - Province du Bas penny bank token, VG to near Fine; First World War pair, comprising: British War Medal and 1914-1915 Star for PNR. W. Douthwaite; and 3 x AE medals: British Goat Society 1926 obv. goat head left within collar, rev. Auction: Coins & Banknotes, 15th Feb, 2023

An interesting and eclectic mix of coins spanning over 1000 years of history will go under the hammer in Tennants Auctioneers’ Coins & Banknotes Sale on 15th February. Amongst the nearly 600 lots are rare and fine examples such as a Gold Proof Set issued in 1937 to mark the Coronation of George VI, an AE Drachm produced in Alexandria mint in the reign of the Ptolemy III Euergetes (246-221 BC), a Portuguese Joao V (1720-56) 4 Escudos (Peca) minted in Lisbon in 1727 and two consecutively numbered Bank of England white five pounds.
