Christ blessing children ‘Suffer the Little Children to Come Unto Me’ in exergue, holed at 12 o’clock, numerous contact marks/hairlines otherwise EF; (3) Wellington Memorial Calendar Medal 1856 (41mm, 17.78g), white metal, issued by E. Moses & Son (tailors & dressmakers, London), obv. ‘WELLINGTON BORN MAY 1ST 1769 DIED SEPTR 14TH 1852’ and ‘PRESENTED BY E. Auction: Coins & Banknotes, 15th Feb, 2023

An interesting and eclectic mix of coins spanning over 1000 years of history will go under the hammer in Tennants Auctioneers’ Coins & Banknotes Sale on 15th February. Amongst the nearly 600 lots are rare and fine examples such as a Gold Proof Set issued in 1937 to mark the Coronation of George VI, an AE Drachm produced in Alexandria mint in the reign of the Ptolemy III Euergetes (246-221 BC), a Portuguese Joao V (1720-56) 4 Escudos (Peca) minted in Lisbon in 1727 and two consecutively numbered Bank of England white five pounds.
