Lost in Thought
Signed, oil on canvas, 34.5cm by 29.5cm
Sold for £700
Estimated at £150 - £250
Private deceased estate, North Yorkshire.
In fully restored condition. Stiffy relined, cleaned and revarnished. The surface is slightly flattened and the paint is thin in places as a result of the restoration process. Areas of fine, stable craquelure essentially to the standing figure's lower skirts. Some light surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Retouching and strengthening to the outline of the standing figure's left hand side back, shoulder and creases of the sleeve. Further fairly minor retouching within the lower reaches of the lady's skirt, within the upper part of the orange fabric, and to a fine and lesser degree to minimal parts of old craquelure within a similar area. Further odd tiny possible retouches elsewhere. Otherwise in a broadly stable and presentable state of preservation.
