An Abyssinia Medal 1867-68, the reverse embossed SHIPS COOK J.(John) GALE H.M.S. OCTAVIA, together with National Archives printed research material comprising Description Book of Her Majesty's Ship Octavia between 14th June 1865 and 21st July 1869, in which John Gale is numbered 16, and a List of Ships whose Crews are entitled to the Abyssinia Medal, in which he is listed.
