In an overall good state of preservation. The panel is relatively thickly gessoed to the reverse and has a slightly concave quality with Christie's frank 255K and further numbering read as III. Some superficial light mould to lower back of no consequence. The general state of the panel appears in good order. There is little to discern with regards to later paint or over paint, retouching, etc. from inspection under a uv lamp. Fine stable craquelure throughout surface. Significant dirt and discoloured varnish to the surface particularly prominent within the craquelure. Small surface scratch within the green of the Madonna's cloak approximately 4cm above and slightly left of the chair, further abrasion/knock to lower right hand corner approximately 1cm by 0.5cm. Not examined out of the frame.
