FOUNDATION MAP OF ROUNDHAY PARK, LEEDS
The City of Leeds/ Resolution of the City Council passed at the special meeting held on the 2nd day of March 1898/ That the Lands forming part of the Roundhay Park Estate shown on the plan now submitted to the Council and signed by the Lord Mayor...be dedicated to the Public use for ever as a Public Park...passed 2nd March 1898 (signed) C.F. Tetley (Lord Mayor) [facsimile signature of Charles Francis Tetley (1848-1934), later Chairman of the brewery].
Large Survey map, lithograph mounted on canvas; annotated and hand-coloured in green to show boundaries of the area designated a Public Park. With official ink stamps 'City Engineer's Office Leeds Sep 16 1897' and 'Office Copy'. Price for Coloured and Uncoloured copies indicated lower right. 133 x 103cm. An impressive and detailed large-scale map. Soiled, with creases and crinkling.
[Offered with:] 19 copies of the same promotional poster printed by Beck & Inchbold for the Leeds Estates Company Ltd. Two lithographic Illustrations per sheet showing their newly-designed elevations: County Arcade. Interior Elevation-North Side [&] New Bond Street. Elevation-South Side. [Leeds, c.1900]. Dampstain and varying degrees of loss to the centre of each design (20).
