London: Sold by H. Moll, Tho. & J. Bowles,1724, oblong folio, letterpress title and fifty uncoloured engraved maps, two folding, forty-eight surrounded by engraved vignettes of antiquities, sewn binding with blue card wrap as rear cover (no front cover). Chubb CLXI

Title-page torn with some loss and affecting first three lines of title. First two folding maps browned and with fraying edges, others with scattered spotting/foxing but mainly to margins (slightly worse on map of Dorset), three maps chipped to page edges (not affecting maps), final couple of maps with lightly fraying edges but not affecting maps, rear wrapper with small losses to edges and a little rubbed.

Highlights include a first edition of an important work on the English colonies in America and the West Indies published in 1687, a collection of watercolours depicting landscapes and ancient sites of Egypt and the Middle East, and a selection of mid-19th century albumen print photographs of Rome. Further notable lots include plates from a mid-18th century plan of Paris by Michael Etienne Turgot, a Victorian autograph album and a copy of Eugene Grasset's 'Plants and the Application to Ornament'.
