A 19th Century Duvelleroy Fan for The Paris Exhibition of 1889, marked ''Duvelleroy 1889''...

A 19th Century Duvelleroy Fan for The Paris Exhibition of 1889, marked "Duvelleroy 1889" recto/verso, a double fabric leaf mounted on a plain light coloured wood frame. The recto shows magnificent buildings around the Champ de Mars. This is the most famous of the Paris Trade exhibitions as it was held to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the storming of the bastille and is best known for giving Paris the Eiffel Tower, the then tallest building in the world. Pastel colours mainly a pale sea green emphasis in black, some colour to the clothing worn by visitors. Guard length 11.25 inches or 28cm; A Chinese Commemorative Fan, depicting the Japanese Prince Fushimi, Chief of Staff of the Japanese Navy in the 1930's, General Yamamoto, who also held high rank in the Navy, and General Nishi, a Japanese Army officer. Double paper leaf mounted on simple wooden sticks painted in silver. Guard length 9 inches or 23cm; and A Small Wood Fan, gilded, the single gauze leaf dated 1911, initialled ERM, with a central depiction of the Lion and Unicorn and the motto "Dieu et Mon droit", this being the motto of the Monarch of the United Kingdom outside Scotland, reputedly first used by Richard l as a battle cry and as a reference to his French Ancestry and the divine right of the Monarch to govern. Guard length 7.25 inches or 18cm (3)

Fan 1 - Generally good. Fan 2 - The leaf is peppered with miniscule holes but sound. Fan 3 - Some splitting to the folds to the right.
