We are grateful to Sylvia Amorsolo Lazo from the Fernando C Amorsolo Art Foundation for authenticating this work. It has been suggested that the painting is a typical rural scene that Amorsolo used to finish in his studio following an "on-the-spot sketch of the scene." The view could be that of a provincial place in Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, or Laguna, which the artist is known to have frequently visited for sketching.

In an overall good, original state of preservation. Some relatively isolated large sized carcquelure in places which is stable. Smaller isolated patches of finely sized cracquelure mostly contained to the foliage of the trees on the left hand side. Slight ripple to canvas in upper right hand corner / loose of stretcher here and subtlety elsewhere. Covered in a layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Numerous dark coloured splashes across surface with one running vertically below the carbao and approx 12-15cms in length. (see images).
