In good original unlined condition. The work may have been cleaned and varnished in the 1960's or 70's. There is original craqueleure throughout the paintwork more noticeable in the sky and lighter parts of the picture with further craqualeure around the signature in the lower right hand corner as well as in the foreground detail. There is reasonable thick impasto and very delicately applied brushwork throughout and the work which appears now to have some surface dirt, Contained within its original Victorian, gilt plaster frame with swept decoration with rather rubbed gold leaf slip.
