A Victorian Mahogany Four-Door Library Bookcase, 3rd quarter 19th century, the moulded cornice above moulded arched glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the base with four conforming moulded cupboard doors enclosing removable shelves, on a platform base

Some fading, but fairly uniform. The right-hand corner is split (as photographed). There is a section of timber missing on the left-hand panel. There is some further fading to the side panels and numerous traces of paint, particularly around the sides. There are some further natural? small splits around the arched cupboard doors and around the middle moulded section. The bookcase does break down for removal - the base is one section, the upper section splits in half (the two glazed doors to each half) and then the pelmet/cornice is one piece. Auction: Country House Sale, 11th Jan, 2025
The Country House Sale will include over 130 pictures, from 18th and 19th century oils through to 20th century watercolours as well as a good sporting art selection, portraits and an array of still life studies.
Good furnishing pieces can be found amongst the furniture, rugs and clocks, and the ceramics and works of art sections includes an interesting collection of treen, and a further instalment of English and Continental Delft from the Mobbs Collection.
The sale will also offer part of The Selected Contents of Eden Lacy, Lazonby, from the estate of Victor Gubbins. Further pieces from the collection will be offered in the Spring Fine Week sales on 15th March.
