In good original unlined condition on a fairly broad woven canvas the weave of the canvas is clearly showing through parts of the paint work, certainly visible in the sky. However, there is good thick impasto in places with delicately applied thin glazes of paint here and there. There is also a great deal of surface dirt and discoloured varnish throughout. It is contained within its elaborately decorated original 19th century gilt plaster and wooden frame, one or two pieces of plaster are missing form the outer frame. (180909)
