A Pair of Ormolu Mounted Blue John Campana Shaped Pedestal Urns, 19th century, the mounts in the manner of Pierre-Philippe Thomire, the handles modelled as winged cherubs holding cornucopia on leaf sheathed scrolls with floral bosses, circular socles, on ormolu mounted black marble stepped plinths, 38.5cm high, 23.5cm diameter

Vase 1 - on ormolu figure missing cornucopia. Large 4.5cm by 1.5cm section of rim broken out, the remains in fragmentary condition, possibly some lacking, with associated small cracks running away from the chip. Metalwork slightly oxidised throughout. Small chips to extremities on black marble base. Thumb nail sized area of discolouration to gilding on base at one side. Vase 2 - small rim chip approx 1.5cm by 3mm to outside of upper rim above one of the handles. One handle missing cornucopia. Some oxidisation to metal surfaces. Large chip to collar of upper part of socle, approx 4cm by 1cm. Minor chippings to extremities on black marble base. Hairline crack to marble base running through top to bottom on one side and into the top of the marble. Typical minor wear to gilding throughout and also some minor abrasions and minor chipping to the extremities on the stone. Please note this mineral is naturally brittle and the way in which these are put together may include the use of filler and minor repairs and gluing. 300512
