Charles Herve (1785-1866): Portrait Silhouette of a Young Man, wearing period costume, facing left, inscribed verso on trade label Charles Herve 1785-1866, 172 Oxford Street, black ink on paper, oval, 8cm by 6.52cm; Three Further Silhouettes, depicting a young girl standing holding a basket of flowers, a dog nearby, a young boy holding a small whip in his right hand, a toy wooden horse by his side, a gentleman wearing a fashionable wig, and Two Engravings, one depicting William Bentley of Kingston, Surrey, Teacher of Mathematics, 1762, the other Lt R Hood, inscribed by a later hand verso, various sizes (6)

All have somewhat faded and rather yellowed backgrounds, with dirt to the underside of the glass on all examples. Some foxing to the prints. Lady wearing Regency costume is torn and damaged, but is in its original black lacquer and gilt metal inner slip with decorative hanging device as an acorn and oak leaves.

We are happy to provide Condition Reports to Prospective Buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale.
