Thence by descent

Collection of Alfred A Haley and by descent
Alfred A Haley was the grandfather of the vendor lots 1003-1010 and voraciously collected pictures, mostly which were contemporary to him.
As a worsted mill owner in Wakefield, he supported local artists, some of which are represented in the following lots, and even produced some of his own paintings, which are now sadly lost. Originally living in Grove House, Walton and downsizing to a smaller property nearby, Mr Haley also owned a farm on the North Yorkshire Moors, had shares in a racehorse, and won first prize for a show cat in America!
We understand that he was interestingly also made an honourable member of the Staithes Group of artists, where he spent a great deal of his time.

Sold for £160
Estimated at £150 - £250
