A Chip Carved Wood Anthropomorphic Nut Cracker, initialled WS, early 18th century, the almondine shape head with incuse cut coffee bean eyes, the jaw hinged and with X and dog's tooth chip carving, 14.8cm long; Another Pair, 18th century, similar to the preceding but of taller stature (losses), 21cm high

First Nutcracker - slight abrasions on the nose and possibly loss of front of 'hood' over the figure's forehead (seems to be done through natural use and is patenated). Staining on the iron hinges,chip on rear left handle basal T bracket otherwise reasonably good patenation. Second Nutcracker - general dents and scuffing to the face, chip on lower lip, half of the entire right side of the figure (which formally adjoined th hinged rear handle) is lost, some chipping to the 'toes' (sold AF) 060110
