For comparable see Mark Senior painting - Girls on the headland above Runswick Bay - Sold Tennants Auctioneers, 15th November, 2013, Lot 687 and a further notable example in the artist's (Mark Senior) family collection entitled "Spring" - each of these paintings would seem to have been painted on the same spot, possibly around the same time, and illustrate the close similarities in the painting style and exchange of ideas between Mark Senior and his assistant Florence Hess.

Quantity of dirt and debrish behind bottom stretcher. Mould growth on stretcher and canvas at reverse. Fair tension but three keys missing. Undulations / draws to the bottom corners and the top right corner (see images in raking light). Mobile in frame, and edges visible largely at the top. Numerous patches of impact cracking throughout from blows from the reverse, some with a little lifting of paint. Paint broadly stable otherwise. A few passages of tiny stable drying cracks. A few tiny unrestored losses at the edges. A series of indents top left quadrant - tiny - done when the paint was wet. Unvarnished, matt surface, light surface dirt and surface accretions.
