a) Nr Arrochar

Lined, one key missing, good tension if a little stiff. Possibly some very slight pressing of the impasto. Stable and not elevated brittle age craquelure in a few areas e.g. penninsular in loch, and rock in foreground. A patch of tiny scattered retouched losses in the water to the right of the signature, and an incised scratch through signature. Two retoched losses in the middle of the mountain. Scattered tiny further retouchings in the sky and a patch of retouching down the right edge of the sky. Fairly large area of reinforcing in the water in the bottom right quadrant and around the signature, possibly to minor abrasion (see uv images). A little ingrained dirt and old yellowed varnish. Even surface gloss, a few very tiny dark marks in sky.

b) Inversnaid

Lined, one key missing, good tension if a little stiff. Possibly some very slight pressing of the impasto. A few minor areas of stable, flat brittle age craquelure including at the stretcher bars in places and in the bottom right corner around the signature. Minor rubbing and retouching along the bottom edge and bottom of left edge. One small matt patch in the sky. Possibly some abrasion/rubbing in the sky, the bright blue areas are mottled and this appears to have been suppressed by retouching (see uv images). Some old ingrained dirt and yellowed varnish, a few minor dark spots and slightly uneven surface gloss.
