Lot 103

103

A Chinese Export Silver Cigarette-Case, Retailed by Ye Chang, Tianjin, First Quarter 20th Century, square with an overall hammered finish, one side applied with a Chinese memento dollar, the other with a 'Fat Man' dollar, 8.5cm square, 4oz 18dwt, 152gr

The mark is somewhat poorly struck but is almost certainly the Y.C. Co mark illustrated by A. von Ferscht in his extensive work Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940 The Definitive Collectors Guide, 4th Edition, 2015, unpaginated.

Since the catalogue for the present cigarette-case was published online Tennants are grateful to Adrien von Ferscht for identifying the mark as that of Ye Chang of Tianjin and not connected to Yung Lei as originally suggested

Sold for £190
Estimated at £100 - £150
