The France section of the Anglesey estate, in three binders and a folder of loose items on stockcards and pages as bought in auction. Includes a useful range of 19th century, however the main strength is the 20th century, with various corner dates and never hinged sets, 1931 sinking fund MNH, 1936 airmails incl. MNH 2.25fr corner date and 3.50fr MNH plate number, 1936 50fr Atlantic flight centenary v.l.h. mint and x2 used (cat. £860), 1937 museums set both mint and MNH, 1955 celebrities set MNH, etc, etc.

Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
