An impressive survey of the postal forgeries on Machin issues showing great scholarship. Well over 2000 stamps (including covers) identified by origin where possible, systematically presented in two large stockbooks. Includes many full booklets and denominations to £5 as well as Christmas issues and other interesting forgeries. The collector had a close working friendship with the head of fraud at the Post Office and exchanged material and knowledge over a long period of time. A very difficult collection to value, there will not be many assemblies this thorough and informative existing in private hands.
