Lined, one key missing, stiff but good tension. Slightly pressed from lining process. Brittle age craquelure and impact craquelure throughout, not appreciably elevated and all secure. Some minor rubbing at edges, and retouched losses at edges. Scattered minor retouched losses of paint and ground and two tiny unretouched losses below the far boat at the centre of the picture. There has been a certain amount of abrasion to the thinner delicated layers such as the boats and rigging, rocks centre, and some passages of the sky. The abrasion in the sky, particularly to the centre of the picture above the far boats has been suppressed with overpaint. Futher patches of overpaint in the sky including along the top edge (see images in UV). The overpaint is a slightly yellowish grey colour. Scattered further minor retouchings in the water and boats.

We are happy to provide Condition Reports to Prospective Buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale.

We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a condition report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.

Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated.
