In broadly good and original state of preservation. Covered in a thick layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. A test patch for cleaning has been taken upper right-hand corner, slight stretcher shadow. Patches of varying sized stable cracquelure. Damage to the canvas with associated retouching and overpainting within the hill/landscape immediately above and right of the seated dog's snout approximately 2-3cm in length. Further puncture with associated rudimentary retouching approximately 1.5cm below the central part of the tree trunk, background right approximately 0.5-1cm in diameter. Very minor abbrassion within sky below tree. Non-continuous fine line of transferred gilt paint upper left-hand side corner and edge approximately 4cm overall. Slight buckle to lower left-hand corner. Very minor nick to surface just left of centre, lower edge.

We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
