Lined, original tacking margins retained, reverse of lining has some plastic film adhered to the surface, further film around tacking margins - now rucked and damaged. All keys present, tension a little lacking. Behind a matte glass. Tear in trees top left quadrant - a three-branched tear 1 inch in circumference - pre-dates lining but is not filled or retouched. A further larger tear approx 3 inches in the sky to the left of the ladies' heads - filled and retouched with the retouching extending over surrounding paint (see uv image). Minor brittle age craquelure throughout, flat and stable. A few patches of minor drying craquelure. Currious slighlty pitted/spotty surface, perhaps where the surface of the picture is in contact with the glass as there are no slips seperating the two. Minor scattered restored and unrestored tiny losses. Ingrained old dirt and varnish. Slightly uneven glossy varnish. Light surface dirt.
