♦Charles I, Newark Besieged Shilling 1645, struck on a rhombus-shaped flan from silver plate; obv. large second type arched crown between C R, XII mark of value below, rev. O(BS) NEWA(R)K 1645 in three lines, beaded borders both sides, S.3143, wt. 5.04g, .936 silver (tested & verified), weakly struck on left side of crown & on corresponding parts of rev., piercing at 12 o’clock sometime plugged, numerous hairlines both sides, overall Fine.
