Lined, fairly stiff. One key missing. Fair tension. Brittle age craquelure throughout, likely history of lifting and flaking in the past, particularly in the sky, but curently held secure by the lining and not significantly elevated. Tiny pinpoint losses associated with this lifting. Cracks and tiny losses suppressed by retouching (see uv images), particularly in the sky. Scattered minor restored losses. Possibly an older campaign of restoration in places. Abrasion of the upper paint layers throughout, exposing the tops of the canvas weave in places, again suppressed by retouching. Overpaint is slightly gritty and matt in places. Thick old varnish, not appreciably yellowed. Light surface dirt. There is an area of further abrasion? to the spaniel at the right. A tiny scuff to the surface bottom right corner.
