In fully restored condition, relined, cleaned, and revarnished. The surface is slightly flattened from the restoration process and the paint is thin in places, more noticeably within the background foliage and the figure looking on from the treetop. However, some degree of impasto has been preserved around the likes of the fur of the goat, the flowers, elements of the clothing, and drapery. The thinner areas of paint could be classed as more around the foliage of the trees. The background shows an amount of retouching and some strengthening with a further subtle indication of some infilling to the cherub riding the goat. Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
