Gavial (Gavialis gangeticus), circa 1880, fore-mount, jaw closed, original wooden backboard with suspension loop, 74.5cm long; Another Gavial, circa 1900, full mount, 123cm long overall; Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus), circa 1880, head mount, with jaw slightly open, with original wood backboard for suspension, 46cm long; and Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis), circa 1920, full mount, with open jaw, red glass eyes, 50.5cm long (4)

Gavial 1 - stitching has splits on the underside of the crocodile revealing wooden boards and straw. Most but not all teeth are extent. Hole in the upper jaw towards the point. Generally scruffy. The eyes are formed from Victorian marbles, and there is splitting around both eyes, and general scuffing of the cheeks and body. Gavial 2 - upper jaw tip crumbling. Tears opening up where head joins body. General scuffing. Stitching underneath is opening up a little. Front right leg damaged and repaired (old repair). Tail raised scales are crushed and generally misshapen. Sold a/f. Crocodile - stitching boldly opened up revealing boards and straw and rusting nails. Splitting behind eyes and round eyes. Wear on the nose. All teeth appear extent (one or two are blunted, possibly naturally). The specimen has a large chamois covered tongue. NB the eyes are Victorian marbles. Alligator - claws on both front legs are missing, otherwise reasonable throughout. 100112
