Taxidermy: A Late Victorian Cased Pair of Peregrine Falcons (Falco peregrinus), by Cecil. H. Bisshopp, Taxidermist Artist, 124 George Street, Oban, Scotland, a superb pair of adult full mounts, the female stood upon a Red grouse prey with wings open, the male perched beside her upon a simulated cut tree trunk, both mounted upon painted simulated tree stumps and groundwork, amidst branches, dry grasses and ferns, set against a painted cloudy sky back drop, enclosed within a typical period ebonised single-glass display case, 101cm by 32cm by 93.5cm, bearing taxidermist's small paper trade label to interior lower left

This April, Tennants Auctioneers are delighted to have been instructed to sell the Taxidermy Collection of Colonel Stephenson Robert Clarke, businessman, British Army officer, botanist, naturalist, ornithologist, horticulturist, art collector and landowner. The majority of the 61 lots are specimens taken by Stephenson Clarke on four hunting trips to Africa between 1909 and 1924 and were mounted by the renowned Rowland Ward Ltd of Piccadilly, London. Several of the lots are recorded in Rowland Ward's Records of Big Game (View Press Release).
