Horatio Lord Nelson Interest: A George III Cut Steel and Gold Presentation Snuff Box, in the manner of Matthew Boulton, circular with pull-off cover, inscribed to the interior This Box was made by a true Born Briton, John May Of Birmingham and Presented to the King Of The Ocean Horatio Vist. Nelson June 10th 1802. Whose daring deeds of Arms Rais'd England's Flag Triumphant O'er the World, the steel base highly polished forming a mirror, 7.8cm diameter

. The box is unmarked. Cover fits well and closes securely. Areas of rust in many places and quite significant corrosion to the polished mirror base. No apparent significant damages or repairs. The engraved panel to the interior is slightly thin and gives when pressed. To the interior is a scrap of printed text describing the box in question, it starts ''Last in this unique collection of boxes, is a circular one of cut steel, 3in. in diameter, the whole of the lid and sides in the workmanship formerly so much in vogue for sword hilts, knee and shoe buckles, and other ornaments....'', and goes on to describe this box.
