Natural History: A Framed Display of Tarantula Carapaces, modern, a display of 27 various sized Tarantula carapaces, naturally shed throughout their lives to accommodate growth, frame size 61cm by 5.5cm by 65.5cm.

Molting is a natural process experienced by animals with an exoskeleton. As the animal grows, the outer shell, or carapace, does not grow with it, so it must be discarded in favor of a newer, bigger one. ... Tarantulas molt about every six months and some continue to molt throughout their lives.
