A Boer War/First World War Military Cross Group of Six Medals, awarded to Regimental Sergeant Major Frederick S Fulcher of the Grenadier Guards and the Northamptonshire Regiment, comprising Military Cross, privately engraved MAMETZ and R.S.M. F.S. FULCHER, NORTHANT'S REGT. 1.7.16, a Queen's South Africa Medal with three clasps CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE and TRANSVAAL and King's South Africa Medal with two clasps SOUTH AFRICA 1901 and SOUTH AFRICA 1902, each named 1995 PTE.F.FULCHER, GREN.GUARDS., and a 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal with MID oak leaf, each named 3-11054 S.MJR.F.FULCHER, NORTH'N.R., swing mounted as worn, together with a cap badge to the Northamptonshire Regiment, a collar badge to the Northumberland Fusiliers, and related ephemera including a typed biography, his Parchment Reserve Certificate and Certificate of Character, Discharge Certificate of a Soldier of the Territorial Force, two Mentioned in a Despatch certificates dated 30th April 1916 and 7th November 1917, Discharge Certificate, Military Cross slip inscribed 'SERGEANT-MAJOR F. FULCHER, Northant's Regt., has been awarded the Military Cross for gallantry and devotion to duty. He has shown much skill in organising working parties under heavy shell fire. He has shown an excellent example by his coolness under fire'.

Auction: Militaria & Ethnographica, 11th Dec, 2024
The sale will include a large selection of Victorian, First and Second World War and Post-War medals and Civil awards, and a variety of cap and other badges, cloth insignia and helmet plates.
A good private collection offers Victorian and Edwardian military headgear and a number of scarlet tunics to local regiments including the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, the Green Howards (Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment) and the Northumberland Fusiliers.
Edged weapons include a private collection of British Cavalry swords, alongside bayonets and fighting knives; and from a further private vendor is a good collection of antique firearms, pistols and revolvers.
The ethnographic section of the sale will see notable tribal weapons from Fiji and Australia.
