A 19th Century Toba Batak Shaman's Staff (Tunggal Panaluan), Indonesia, of dark wood covered in a thick pigment, carved as a figure with animal hair coiffeur wrapped in cream cotton and twisted coloured vegetable fibre, seated on the shoulders of fifteen human and animal figures, with a plain grip, the lower part of the haft carved with two further human figures, four dogs and a snake, with pointed butt, 164cm
