A Rockingham Porcelain Basket, circa 1830-42, of elongated octagonal form with overhead entwined crabstock handle, painted with a named view of North Lodge, St Leonards, within a gilt leaf meander border, the rim moulded with leaves and applied with relief moulded flower sprays, inscribed title in red, 23cm wide

See Cox (Alwyn & Angela) Rockingham 1745-1842, fig.240, colour pl.108, and where it is also noted that the town of St Leonards was frequently featured on Rockingham decorative porcelain.

General and typical chipping to the encrusted flowers. Rubbing of the gilding particularly the framing around the painted vignette. There are no cracks detected in the handle. There is only very minor staining on the rim underside. 141110
