Collection in two large generally well-filled albums, a Lighthouse hingeless album for issues to 1930s and a Schaubek album for later 20th century to 1970s. Highlights include 1852 5r green used (SG.19), 1854 1r indigo used signed (SG.35), 1r pale blue remainder cancel (SG.42), 1856 1r greenish blue used (SG.52), 1866 12 cuartos red-orange mint (SG.94), 1867 25m rose and deep-blue mint (SG.107b), etc, followed by a full page of 1873/74 Carlist issues, 1878 10ptas mint (SG.262), 1879 10ptas mint, thin (SG.272), through to 1901 Alfonso XIII mint range incl. 4ptas (SG.305), 1905 Quixote set with 1pta mint and 10ptas used, 1909-22 Alfonso series with mint 40cts salmon and 10ptas (SG.338a, 342), mint 1923 25cts indigo error of colour (SG.383b) and 1925 4ptas lake (SG.392), 1926 red cross set mint (SG.394/416), 1936 Press Association postage and airmail complete imperforate MNH (Edfil cat. €1090), etc. Accompanied by a disorganised working accumulation in three further binders with some better items noted, revenues, classics of Corrientes and Papal States, well worth close inspection.

Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
