Art and Autograph Album
An album originally belonging to Sidney Packett, former Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford, the first part of the album, with the title 'From Keighley to Cadiz' (commenced 1889), contains a series of topographical pen and ink and watercolour sketches by Albert Muston, subjects include Dieppe, Rouen, Honfleur, Auray, St Nazaire, La Rochelle, Barcelona, Seville, Cadiz, etc., with a four page A.L.S. from the artist (Barcelona 1891) to Mr Packett, who had commissioned the work, describing the locations of the sketches.
The album was then used as an autograph album by Mr Packett who met a large number of politicians and celebrities as part of his civic duties. Signatures include Winston Churchill (1905), H.H. Asquith, Violet Bonham Carter, Sybil Thorndike Casson, Jack Warner, Joan Winters, R. Baden Powell, etc.. a newspaper cutting is loosely inserted, in which Mr Packett is pictured with the album and the Winston Churchill signature is mentioned, padded leather binding [see also lot 73]
