A Rare Early 19th Century French Chronometer Deck Watch with a Regulator Dial Display, signed Perron Fils A Besancon, circa 1820, gilt fusee full plated detent chronometer movement, maintaining power, bimetallic balance with timing screws to the rim, blued spherical hairspring, diamond endstone, side of the movement engraved with floral decoration and signed, regulator dial display, three dials for seconds, minutes and hours, lower side of the dial faintly signed Perron, eccentric winding hole, white metal consular case, inside case back with maker's mark IPW and numbered 5619, 65mm wide s

Louis Perron (1778-1835), Besancon, France, made chronometers and worked for the famous watchmaker A,L,Breguet before working for Megevand making watch movements and chronometers. He was known for inventing a pin pallet escapement in 1798 (Tardy).

16.06.16, Case with surface scratches, surfaces are discoloured and tarnished, the ringed mark around the bezel is rubbed, dial with minor scratches visible under an eyeglass, signature to the lower side centre has faded, movement top plate with small scratches, movement in going order.
