British Commonwealth
King George VI Mint Collection

An outstanding mint collection in four deluxe Stanley Gibbons albums, highly complete (empty spaces only on a handful of Indian Feudatory States and one or two other issues) with additional pages for perforations, shades and other varieties. The quality is high virtually throughout with strong colours, many top values being mint never hinged. Among the better MNH material are Bermuda 12/6d and good £1 (SG.121e, cat. £325), Ceylon 1952 10r postal fiscal (SG.F1, cat. £100), Chamba 10r and 15r (Sg.105/106, cat. £275) and 'Service' high values (SG.O85/O86, cat. £150), Cook Islands 1936 £1 (SG.121, cat. £120) and 1950 £5 (SG.136, £250), Great Britain 1936/37 postage due set (SG.D19/D26, cat. £450), Hong Kong $10, 'Jind' ovpt high values (SG.131/136, cat. £395), Malayan Postal Union key 15cts (SG.D12, cat. £110), Nabha Service 5r (SG.O68, cat. £275), Western Samoa £5 postal fiscal (SG.214, cat. £425), etc. Of further note are the Indian Feudatory States including Bijawar 1937 set, Bundi 1941 officials to 8a (SG.O53/O58, cat. £560), good range of Cochin, Indore, Jaipur incl. 1932/37 officials MNH (SG.O18/O22, cat. £500), as well as impressive New Zealand postal fiscals with topmost values very lightly hinged, Niue ovpts single watermark set 1941-43 (SG.79/82, cat. £750), etc, etc. The only faults noted are thins on New Guinea 5/- and £1 airmails (the key 10/- is sound), comparatively light toning on occasional Indian Convention States as to be expected, and Hong Kong 1938 $5 and $10 with the usual tropicalised gum. Altogether a splendid collection and highly recommended viewing.
