Wordsworth (William, 1770-1850). Autograph letter signed, Rydal Mount, 14 September 1849, single sheet of wove paper with black mourning border (226 x 184 mm), written in brown ink on one side only, addressed to 'Dear Mrs Lawrence', signed 'Wm Wordsworth' mounted, framed and glazed (mount aperture 217 x 168 mm; mount inscribed in pencil 'Wm Wordsworth, given to me by Mr Lawrence), creased from folding, a few light spots, browned along edges under mount (qty: 1) Writing a year before his death, Wordsworth thanks an unidentified correspondent for a literary gift ('three elegant volumes': perhaps a triple-decker) and gives an insight into his domestic situation: 'Two of my grandchildren are at present under my roof, and write their thanks ... for the interesting proof of your good wishes'.
