Pronounced staining across the entire sheet. Overall colour depth is muted a result of this with some additional fading to the blues and greens in particular the sky and grass. Tiny foxing spot right-hand side edge approx 10cm upper right-hand corner. No evidence of cockling, not examined out of the frame. Oval example featuring black and bay horse highly pronounced staining across the entire sheet, loss of overall colour depth and additional fading of intensity of pigments. Water splash immediately above the jockey wearing black probably contemporary to execution in addition to other slightly incongruous paint splashes within background and foreground. Varying-sized sporadic foxing spots, no evidence of cockling, not examined out of the frame. Staining throughout sheet which is evident but less pronounced to the former. Diamond-shaped less stained area, centre-top. Sporadic tiny-sized dark splashes mostly concentrated above and front of the nose and head of the lead horse and to a lesser extent within the background behind the two jockeys. Slightly curved line of discoloured splashes within left-hand side centre, colour depth muted, somewhat down in intensity. No evidence of cockling, not examined out of the frame.
