Two 'Utile' loose-leaf albums with about 3000 mint and used stamps, mainland countries as well as Ascension, St. Helena, Seychelles and Mauritius. Noted early pyramids of Egypt, Gambia with 1912-22 complete, very good range of British Central Africa and Rhodesia, British East Africa from overprints on India issues to 1897/1903 widowhead high values mint, Cape of Good Hope including over a dozen triangulars, 1883 5/- used, over thirty Griqualand overprints, Natal embossed classics, etc, etc. Catalogue approx. £30,000 not including poor condition examples, fiscal cancels, specimen overprints (as these are not in sets), or the Transvaal £5 'V.R.I.' mint (presumed forgery). Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
