Taxidermy: Perruque Roe Buck (Capreolus capreolus), circa 2001, shoulder mount with head turning slightly to the left, perruque antlers in felt is an unusual malformation of the antler beneath the felt, this appears when Castration or severe damage to the testicles, e.g. by shotgun wounds on a Roe Buck will often cause a malformed head generally referred to as 'perruque or wig head'. Such a head is produced when a buck's testicles are seriously damaged soon after he has cast his antlers, and the new pair are growing. Mounted upon an oak shield with brass plaque - Perruque Dorset August 2001 D.P. from the wall 39cm, height 58cm
