A George III Mahogany Bureau Pedestal Writing Table, attributed to Gillows, circa 1790, the hinged slope resting on double ratchet supports above a deep two-as-one secretaire drawer, the sliding tray inset with a brown and gilt leather skiver, above a well and lidded compartments, the shaped apron flanked by six small drawers with opposing sham drawer, 122cm by 62cm by 94cm

The desk is in restored condition and generally very good. It has recently been polished. Faults on the writing surface. General scratches, some deep. Two splits have started to open up - new? - please see images on website. Minor faults around the moulding on the sides and around the base. Rear of desk with small crack on the bottom dummy drawer. Pedestals - two splits running the full height of the pedestal. Handles replaced. Secretaire drawer - repair work around lock. Replaced leather with some wear and scratches. Lidded compartments with further polishing and new lettering etc. 250310
